The purpose of the St. Damian Music Ministry is to enhance our liturgies and engage our parishioners to experience the Eucharist and all Sacraments at the highest possible levels. We lead our faith community in song and unite them as one voice in musical praise. We strive to maintain an inviting and spirit-filled environment in which we serve our Lord and our parish.
Our Adult Choir is composed of talented sopranos, altos, tenors and basses, who provide a polished, creative addition to our liturgies. They meet in the church on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9 pm to rehearse for Sunday Mass, all Holydays and special occasions. They sing at the 10 am Sunday Masses throughout the year, except for July and August.
The parish children’s choir is open to all registered parish members from grades 2 through 6 as well as all school choir members. This group would practice from 4 – 5 pm on the first and third Saturday of each month before the 5 pm Mass and subsequently sing that Mass. They will also join with the school choir to perform for special occasions and ceremonies; such as Christmas, sacraments, etc. This choir will begin practice on September 15, 2012 at 4 pm.
All Junior High and High School students are welcome to participate in a Contemporary Choir. This choir will begin in September, 2012. They will practice and sing on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. There is nothing as fulfilling as singing the praise of God during the Mass. If you play an instrument, please let me know, as I would like as much participation as I can incorporate into each and every Mass. If you have never considered it, please do. I cannot tell you how much music and the Mass bring into my life. First Contemporary Choir meets at 4 pm on September 22nd. Hope to see you there.
