Welcome to 7th and 8th Grade
Our 7th and 8th graders have a strong educational based year. We study American History to learn about our beginnings as a country. We spend the year discovering about the cells and their functions all the way through the six kingdoms of living things. We explore literature using examples of poetry, short stories, essays, and novels. We offer both Pre-Algebra and Algebra. We have a thorough study of the language with our grammar and vocabulary programs. The students will also have a complete year of Spanish when the year is over. In Religion this year, the students will study the history of the Catholic Church and prepare for and receive the sacrament of Confirmation.
However, in addition to their studies, St. Damian 7th and 8th graders will work on developing a strong personal character. They will be given opportunities to show leadership, make positive decisions, mentor to the younger students, and serve their community. The students work as safeties, serve as lectors, commentators and altar servers in mass, participate in student council and National Junior Honor Society, play hard on CYO sports teams, and reach out to others at the soup kitchen, Gleaners Food Bank, Capuchin Center, and the Four Chaplains Nursing Home.
Our goal is for our students to leave St. Damian prepared educationally and eager mentally to face the challenges ahead with wisdom, strength, and love.
